He added that America "has openly and directly entered the war, violating Iran’s sovereignty," according to Iranian state television.

Yesterday (Sunday), U.S. President Donald Trump announced that the United States had launched air strikes targeting key nuclear sites in Iran, in an operation dubbed the "Midnight Hammer."

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Iran’s Central Khatam al-Anbiya Military Headquarters, Ibrahim Zolfaghari, said in a video released today that "the recent hostile American actions have expanded the legitimate targets for the Iranian armed forces."

Zolfaghari warned that the United States should expect "severe consequences" for its actions, Reuters reported.

He concluded his recorded statement in English saying:
"Mr. Trump, the gambler, you may start this war, but we will finish it."
